We started Propel Creative after a few lifetimes of serving, leading and growing in a variety of big brand companies, hot agencies and entrepreneurial ventures. When we became too removed from directly creating results for clients, it was time to launch Propel Creative as a strategic brand design firm. We hit the ground running, intent on propelling our clients forward with strategy, creative and service. Thus, our icon the Triskeles — three legs perpetually running forward.
In 2010 we formalized a long working relationship with two leading marketing, advertising and sales firms by acquiring Douglas Sales Company and Experience Fresh Baked Cookies. The additional capabilities in marketing strategy, budgeting, media, web, social media and campaign development have broadened and deepened the expertise and resources we bring to our clients. To mark the next stage in our growth and to signify our comprehensive capabilities, we now go by “The Propel Agency.”

Matt Benner’s career spans 16 years of diverse design experience that his clients find so valuable. After studying at the Portfolio Center, he worked for a print design firm that was an early practitioner of web design and development. In 1997 he went to Think New Ideas (later to merge with IT services firm Answerthink), serving as senior art director for print, online and integrated marketing campaigns for global corporations and small companies alike.
He is especially adept at creating powerful brand experiences across all media. His portfolio includes award-winning corporate identities, branding, packaging, annual reports, advertising and web design for companies such as ACE Limited, Alltel, BellSouth, The Coca Cola Company, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Georgia Power, Huber Engineered Materials, KaMIn, Motient, Time Warner and UPS.
Tillman Douglas, Jr. joined the The Propel Agency team in February of 2010. His diverse marketing and sales consulting experience started with Douglas Sales Company, which he founded in 2000 after ten years as a successful sales and marketer in the investment banking, construction, and technology industries. After assisting in the public sale of start-up technology consulting company Interweb to Answerthink (now The Hackett Group, NASDAQ: HCKT) and working on other start-up ventures, he realized his strength of designing targeted sales and marketing strategies to drive profitable revenue. In 2007, seeing an application for remarkable marketing, he established Experience Fresh Baked Cookies, LLC, an advertising and marketing agency focused on real estate, primarily for master planned neighborhoods and production builders.
Tillman’s sales and marketing story has been told in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, success tips shared in Sales and Marketing Management magazine, and he was honored by Georgia Trend Magazine and the Atlanta Business Chronicle in their top businesspeople “40 Under 40” lists in 2005 and 2006, respectively. He is also active in the Atlanta community, having served as a past president of the board of directors of Southface Energy Institute, and the boards of Creating Pride Art Organization, The Hambidge Center, Alumni Board of The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, Trinity School Alumni Association, The Westminster Schools Alumni Board, and is a graduate of the Midtown Alliance Leadership Midtown program.
In 2006, Governor Sonny Perdue (Georgia) appointed Tillman to the board of directors of the Georgia Technology Authority. He also is a member of the Urban Land Institute, and the Sales and Marketing Council of the Atlanta Homebuilders Association, and is a licensed real estate agent in the states of Georgia and South Carolina.
Jeff Mares has 17 years of experience creating concepts, advertising, content strategies and copy for print, web, interactive and broadcast media. He has helped Fortune 500 and mid-market companies create successful marketing strategies, sales promotions and brand communications with online and offline audiences.
His industry experience includes consumer goods, food and beverage, software development, IT services, media and publishing, utilities, logistics and entertainment. Prior to co-founding The Propel Agency, Jeff served as a copywriter, editor, project manager and account executive for an IT services firm, a global energy company and several advertising agencies.
In addition to award-winning interactive work for Georgia Power and Acxiom, his career includes work for IBM, Sony, UPS, TBSsuperstation, Atlanta Braves, AFC Enterprises, The Coca-Cola Company, Coca-Cola Enterprises and J. M. Huber.
